Biography
Ivan Wentland was born near Seattle in Auburn, Washington in 1969. His childhood was filled with many moves that seemed like a great adventure to him as he grew up gazing at the beauty of the world passing the family car windows from Washington to California, Pennsylvania, Maine, Florida and the many states in between. The impressions were lasting.
It was during his childhood travels that his love of beautiful images was born and nurtured. In college this love took form and matured. Ivan attended Andrews University in Michigan where he majored in photography and graduated in 1993 with a bachelor’s of science degree in technology. Through experimenting and curiosity, Ivan has developed a chemical manipulation not used by other photographers. First conceived during the three years he worked in commercial advertising, Ivan continues to perfect this unique method.
Traveling by himself with only the company of his camera, Ivan has visited Thailand, India, Nepal, Egypt, Kuwait, Paris and more as he continued to let both the beauty of the world as well as its sorrows influence him and be translated into his art. He uses his strong visual memory to express a wide range of emotions while always seeing the beauty of life’s textures.
Hawai`i is home where he continues to explore his visual world.
